Excellent - I ve had a Pure One for over a year now and continue to be very impressed by its performance. Everything works as you would want. Both DAB and FM reception are excellent. The display, although small, is easy to read from all angles and shows everything you d expect. The sound is clear and quite loud enough- for me at least. I ve recently bought a Pure Evoke 3, which is three times the price, but in some ways- e.g. FM reception- is not as good as the One .Just a couple of niggles. I think that the shiny plastic knob looks cheap- something in brushed aluminium would have been better. And having the push buttons on the front face rather than the top, means that you often have to hold the radio to stop pushing it backwards when you make a selection. But these don t really detract from what is probably the best radio of its type on the market today. Excellent.
Li-on Battery - I was undecided on whether to give 5 or 4 stars since the performance, value and many factors are excellent. I have been waiting for DAB for ages and my area has just started receiving it - and Pure One was the radio I wanted after going through alternatives for some time.I agree with virtually all the good reviews now using it - but also the few not so good. The Pure Li-on battery is excellent, though expensive - and I have found it does last far longer than some of the reviews state. Maybe they did not leave it s first charge for 24 hours, as recommended? The problem is that the indication of the charge level shows that it is full until it is virtually not - therefore the sound just stops when you think the battery has enough power in it! I think a properly working graduated indicator would be better, showing when it was half full when it was, etc.I also agree with comments about changing stations being more awkward than hoped for. It would be nice if it just had one for going back to the last station used with only one press, for instance, instead of going through the playing about.Anyway, despite being delighted with it, I must cut marking to 4 stars for these relatively minor points.
Brilliant and only slightly flawed - Having purchased two PURE products in the last year - first the Evoke-1 and now this, the PURE One - my experience has been similar on both occasions. The PURE product deserves the majority opinion - quality build and performance with a typically great sound and resonance. The designs are boldly traditional and make the units easy to manipulate and enjoy straight out of the box.Just one gripe...quality control. The Evoke-1 took three attempts at receiving a satisfactory unit that at first didn t work at all and then arrived scratched or pot-marked. The PURE One arrived with what is arguably a plastic casing vulnerable to scratches and unintentional markings. So then, an unusual case of eminent value spoiled by the test and delivery.
Easy to use but poor sound - Far from the great sound mentioned by other reviewers, I find the sound lacking totally in treble. It s a muddy sound with no real clarity. This is a shame as the radio works extremely well.
Excellent Radio pity about the battery life and poor after service from Pure - Well made radio with good quality sound. To claim that this radio will run for 35 hours on 6 size C batteries is completely untrue. You will be lucky to get 2to 3 hours. It does however run well off the mains. I hope you never have to contact the Pure technical department for help or advice because you will not get it and this despite the promises made on their website. I shall think twice in future before buying their products again.
